This photo is a great example of a weather phenomenon we have called a Chinook wind. The wind comes from the west off of the mountains and the downward flow causes a warming effect. This happens all along the front range of the Rocky Mountains from time to time and rewards us with not only warmer temperatures but these type of clouds.
