Lady Bug

I saw this lady bug crawling along on a Lambs Ear plant after the sprinklers watered the plants. Notice the water on the bug.

Male and Female House Finch

Pair of house finches in a cottonwood tree. The bottom picture is where their nest is. Wishing I had a 400mm lens but all I have is a 250mm. Oh well.

Goose water skiing

I thought about editing this photo and adding a rope with a little handle to the goose's beak but decided not to insult the goose.

Geese in Flight

This photo was taken this morning at the Fountain Nature Center. I love the reflection of the birds.

Pond View

This is at the Fountain Nature Center. I have been going there for walks a few evenings or mornings every week since the beginning of the year. I have seen the changes that are happening there with the plant life beginning to grow with the warmer weather. These couple photos I took this evening before the thundershower rolled in and cut my walk short.

Rampart View

I went for a drive up Rampart Range Road on Sunday. We had a spring storm go through the night before so you can see that some areas got snow. Rampart Range Road is a scenic road that goes from Manitou Springs(Garden of the Gods Park) through the mountains to Woodland Park.

Wasp

I have been doing some experimental macro photography. That is a lot of fun. This is one photo I would not recommend you try to take if you are allergic to bee stings, although I did not get stung.

Old Wagon

I went for a motorcycle ride yesterday and saw this wagon sitting on the side of Hwy 115 as I was heading toward Penrose, CO. I turned around and took these photos. So glad I did because the thunderstorm building toward the west was in the right spot for extra interest.

Spider Web

 I went for a walk a couple days ago early on a foggy morning. I wasn't sure what I would get to see, this picture is one of the things I saw. It is amazing a spider can weave such an intricate web and they are so strong. 

Lichen

I have always been intrigued with macro photography. Here is an attempt to do some. I used a inexpensive tube extender and a 28mm manual lens. I hope to be able to get better at this type of photography and get some better equipment. This lichen is on a rock in my front yard and it looks kinda strange if you ask me. It looks like some alien planet or something.

Moths and Butterfly

I was out walking today and saw these two moths and the cabbage white butterfly.

Whitetail Deer

I went for a walk this morning through the open space area near my home. It was foggy and I was hoping to get a couple pictures of sunlight coming through the fog. I saw these deer and they were in the right place. 

Barbed Wire Post

I took this picture hoping the lines of barbed wire would draw your eye to the fence post. This fence and field is outside of Penrose, Colorado.

Old Ranch Houses

Here are some old buildings we came across in our travel this past weekend. It is amazing to see what was a normal size house way back when. I know some folks still live in small structures today in many place both here and elsewhere around the world. The simple times when these buildings were constructed is something hard to image in our modern times.

Cholla and Prickly Pear Cactus

Some photos from a drive and some hiking this past weekend around the Canyon City area to the southwest of where we live. We have the same cactus here as well, but you know these just wanted their pictures taken.
